When the weather starts getting chilly, all I want to do is escape into the mountains. I have this dream of owning a tiny mountain home where my love and I can escape on weekends and just take time to reflect. No phones, tv, or other communication. Just us and nature.
Well I saw this in the NYT a long time ago, and was immediately obsessed. And because I've been thinking about it so much lately, I thought I'd share it with you. Sandra Foster turned a tiny hunting cabin in the woods into her very own Victorian cottage retreat. It is perfectly charming, shabby, and soothing. I would love to spend a relaxing weekend there.
Look how little it is!! I want one so badly.
Everything is white and soothing. I am in love with all of it. Every personal detail that was lovingly added. Especially those bookshelves that reach all the way up the vaulted ceilings.
This dish cupboard is beautiful.
Oh, what I wouldn't give to take long naps in that loft bed.
Every detail is so sweet.
I would spend so much time on this porch, looking at the trees or watching the sun rise.
Ms. Foster's little retreat is across a stream from the trailer she and her husband share. It's her personal getaway, and her husband has his own as well. How perfect.
It just shows what you can accomplish with a dream and hard work.
I absolutely love this little masterpiece.
It's almost the weekend! What will you be doing for fun? We're heading out of town tomorrow for a little road trip. I live for these little getaways :)
