OK, here it is! My costume for Halloween night. I took a page out of my own book...er... blog, and decided to go with...
Frida Kahlo!
Seth informed me that uni-brows are hot. Haha, Frida must have been on to something...
As you'll remember, Seth was dressed up as the Mad Hatter. He won his work costume contest with that! Good job honey! $100 to our local mall... I'm ok with that. Halloween night, I ran home, threw on this last minute costume, and we ran to another party. And guess what. We won the costume contest there too! $40 at Olive Garden. Which I am always craving. I guess our tricks earned us some good treats... :)
So here's the story behind this. I obviously had this idea in mind before, but not necessarily for myself. I went to my closet Halloween afternoon to see what I could come up with. Other ideas included Odette from Swan Lake, an old school detective, and Audrey Hepburn, but I couldn't get the Frida idea out of my head.
So I grabbed my grey maxi dress, big wrap scarf, black braided belt, a couple of necklaces, turquoise earrings, ring, and bracelet, and headband attached to a bunch of flowers from around my house. I put my hair in Heidi braids, did a dark red lip, and gave myself the uni-brow with mascara. Voila! It was so quick and easy, and one of my favorite costumes ever.
Moral of the story: You can find amazing costumes with what you already have. But when you spend weeks on a costume, it has the potential to win you $140 in prizes. Weigh your options.
I'm sad Halloween is over... but now on to Thanksgiving!!!
