An Inspired Affair: Color Celebration

I am a party planner. It's just who I am and what I do. If you could peek into my head at any moment, you would probably see lists and ideas tumbling around for all sorts of celebrations. Sadly, I don't have the time or means to execute the vast majority of events I dream of. So I decided to start blogging about them. Hopefully someone out there can use my ideas.

Today's party is all about color. As we're heading into winter, it's getting darker, leaves are losing color and falling to the ground, and the skies are filled with grey clouds and rain or snow. To fight off that dreary seasonal depression from setting in, I thought it would be fun to have a party celebrating the beauty and uplifting effects of color. Sidenote: this party inspiration is designed mostly for the ladies. Sorry gents, you're not invited to this one. But if you recreate these ideas, feel free to make them more man-friendly.

To Adorn:
{1, 2, 3, 4}

1. Invite your guests to celebrate with festive invitations like these rainbow chevron cards.
2. If your ceilings are high enough, wouldn't it be lovely to hang colorful umbrellas?
3. For art, attach crayons to the top of a canvas, and make colors drip down with the heat from a blow dryer. I love the image of the colors dripping of the umbrella here.
4. For other decorations, these zigzag accordion streamers are fun. You can also do any colorful garland, flags, or balloons.

To Eat:
{1, 2, 3, 4}

1. Glass bottles of soda arranged by color creates a beautiful table vignette.
2. Serve colorful treats. These fruit kebabs exhibit the beautiful variety of colors produced in nature.
3. Surprise your guests when they cut into a plain white cake. Layer several colors of cake to create a rainbow effect.
4. Decorate the food tables with floral arrangements divided by color. Segmenting the colors will make each color stand out more.

To Do:
{1, 2, 3, 4}

1. Set up a nail bar so guests can brighten up their nails. Include a variety of colors, glitter, and other accessories so they can get creative.
2. Lay out a variety of flowers and feathers with headbands so the ladies can create a festive hair accessory.
3. Dress code: Invite guests to dress in a white dress with solid colored tights and shoes. When they arrive, the guests themselves will become decor for the party.
4. This colorful glitter would be lovely to include on the nail bar.

This concept can be developed so much further, but these are just a few ideas to get you started. For more awesome color inspiration, visit Kate Spade, the queen of color herself. If you have your own color celebration, or try any of these ideas, please share or send me photos. I would love to see how it goes!
